Amolatar district have Thursday 12th.March. 2026 inaugurated new youth council leaders bringing to an end the five-year tenure of the previous leaders.
Following the Youth Council elections that were held recently, Oguta bob emerged victorious therefore making eligible for the position of the Chairperson District Youth Council for Amolatar.
During the handover that transfigured at the district headquarters the outgone chairperson Tonny Odongo sighted out some challenges and called the incoming chairperson to work so hard and address all these challenges.
Among the challenges he sighted were reluctance among the youth to refund the YLP money, political affiliation differences and biasness in the selection of candidates to join the presidential skilling hub in Lira City.
The new Chairperson Oguta Ambrose Bob after being granted office officially promised to work hand in hand with all youth regardless of political affiliations and differences.
He later called upon the entire youth to work hard so they can be self-reliant promising to step up and lobby youth development programs for the youth in the entire district and work diligently to ensure are liberated in the district
Patrick Otile the DCDO Amolatar District who officiated the handover ceremony cautioned the youth against politicizing youth leadership and challenged the new leaders to lobby youth attached projects.
Commenting on the challenges facing the youth council, Patrick Otile unveiled out of the 1.5billion shillings disbursed to the youth only about 200millions have refunded showing a red flag to the new chairperson.
However he also said that as the district they have agreed upon distribution of PDM 30% should be allocated to the youth and later urged them to work hard and position themselves strategically for job opportunities that come around the district and cautioned them to cease using violence and demonstrations as it tarnishes the image of the youth.
Ephania Ocero one of the youth later showed concern on some PDM SACCO leaders who deny youth access to the money in demand that they should atleast be married to access the PDM money.
