A pregnant woman was found concealing a live bullet in her bra at Amolatar Health Centre IV, prompting a security scare and an immediate investigation.

In a shocking incident that has left both staff and patients at Amolatar Health Centre Four rattled, a pregnant woman was discovered concealing a live bullet in her bra.

The 30-year-old suspect, identified as Amaro Susan from Ireda Lumumba in Lira City, drew attention to herself when she was admitted to the operating theatre due to complications related to her pregnancy.

Reports indicate that the alarming discovery was made on Monday when hospital personnel were alerted by anxious patients. They immediately reported the situation to the health centre’s security team.

Security head at the facility Arago Jimmy later confirmed that following a successful operation, Susan had threatened a security officer who was in possession of the bullet, prompting the officer to return it to her after the procedure.

This prompted an immediate response from local authorities; the District Police Commander of Amolatar, Mafabi John, swiftly dispatched detectives to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. During the questioning, Susan admitted to having possessed the bullet for approximately two weeks, claiming that it aided doctors in locating her veins during medical procedures. She also stated that the bullet was meant for her protection.

Susan alleged that her husband, a police officer stationed at Kayago Police Station in Namasale Town Council, provided her with the bullet for safety reasons during her pregnancy.

When approached for comment, her husband, Barasaija Amos, acknowledged his error.

He admitted to supplying the bullet, asserting that it was intended for his wife’s protection.

The revelation has raised serious concerns regarding safety protocols at the health facility. Dr. Luru, in charge of Amolatar Health Centre iv, expressed alarm over the potential hazards posed by the presence of a live bullet near oxygen cylinders in the theatre, which could lead to catastrophic results if ignited.

As investigations continue, Susan’s husband has been instructed to report to the District Police Commander’s office for further questioning, while the health centre staff remain on high alert.

This incident underscores the need for heightened security and awareness within healthcare facilities, especially when it comes to patient safety and the prevention of potential threats.
