Vincent Otuu, a 26-year-old entrepreneur from Amolatar, has adopted climate-smart farming practices to address the challenges posed by unpredictable seasonal rains.
As the young manager of Smart Farm Agro Input, Otuu has cultivated six acres of cabbage and tomatoes, demonstrating both innovation and resilience in his agricultural practices.

In an interview, Otuu explained that his decision to adopt climate-smart techniques stems from a deep awareness of climate change and its impact on farming.
He noted that many farmers suffer significant losses when they fail to adapt to changing weather patterns.
To combat this, Otuu has implemented an irrigation system to sustain his vegetable crops amid the persistent sunshine.

Looking ahead, Otuu aims to generate approximately 60 million UGX from his farming enterprise.
He also encourages other young people to follow suit and embrace climate-smart farming methods as a way to reduce the adverse effects of climate change on agriculture.
Additionally, Otuu advised fellow farmers with maize at the weeding stage to take advantage of the current sunny conditions to weed their crops.
He highlighted that timely weeding under sunshine helps conserve soil moisture, ultimately benefiting the maize during dry spells.
Otuu added that the Farm Smart Agro Inputs now has all the irrigation supplies available at small prices, making them affordable for farmers.
This development is expected to greatly support farmers in efficiently managing their water resources and improving crop yields without financial strain.
Vincent Otuu’s proactive approach serves as a promising example of how innovation and climate awareness can drive agricultural success in uncertain times.
