Amolatar district proposes 32billion budget prioritizing human capital development

The local government of Amolatar district has proposed a draft budget estimate of 32.016169 billion for the financial year 2026/2027, marking an increase from the 31 billion allocated in the financial year 2025/2026.

During a district council meeting chaired by speaker Martin Ayonga, the district vice chairperson Sam Onyang who doubles as Secretary for Finance and Administration revealed that the district expects to receive Shs 30.7 billion from the central government, Shs 682 million from external donors and development partners, and Shs 610 million from local revenue.

The primary focus areas of the budget include infrastructure, production, education, health, and water.

A significant portion of the budget, amounting to 20.03405 billion, has been allocated towards human capital development, which covers health, education, community services, and water.

Integrated transport and infrastructure are set to receive 1.903499 billion, while tourism and private sector development have been allocated 91.957 million.

The sectors of natural resources, environmental climate change, and land and water management have been allotted 238.253 million.

Agro-industrialization is designated 1.883517 billion, governance and security 1.709774 billion, and public sector transformation—specifically administration—is allocated 4.313867 billion.

Finally, the implementation of the development plan, encompassing finance, planning, and internal audit functions, has been assigned 614.012 million.

This comprehensive budget proposal will be presented to the relevant committee for review prior to final approval.
