The Police in Lamwo District have launched investigations into the alleged murder of a 30-year-old man, identified as Okwera Denish, a resident of Gai Village, Paloga Sub County, following a tragic incident that occurred on the night of 29th April 2025.

Preliminary information indicates that the deceased had gone out for a routine social gathering at Oburu David’s bar, located in Central Village, Paloga Parish, where he joined his friends including Kabode Francis, Oloya John Bosco, and others for an evening of drinking.

According to police reports, at approximately 1:00 AM, a patrol team from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) stormed the bar and ordered the DJ to stop playing music. During the operation, the officers inquired about an unidentified individual found lying in a pool of blood outside the bar, suspected to be deceased.
The UPDF officers reportedly locked all patrons inside the bar until morning to prevent any escape of potential suspects and to preserve the scene for investigation.

Police arrived at the crime scene shortly after and commenced investigations. Relevant witness statements were recorded, and five suspects were subsequently arrested and are currently in police custody to assist with ongoing inquiries.
According to IP Oloya Joe, the East Aswa Police Spokesperson, the case is being treated as a suspected murder, and a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
