In a powerful address delivered on Monday, Kioga North Constituency parliamentary aspirant Peter Okodo urged the community to refrain from engaging in criminal activities that hinder their development.
His remarks were made during the closing ceremony of a training programme for members of the newly launched Arwot Catering Services, where he emphasised the profound impact crime can have on families and the community as a whole.
At the heart of Okodo’s message was the belief that criminal activities not only disrupt social harmony but also have severe consequences for both personal and communal growth. “The circumstances surrounding crime can destroy families and undermine the progress we have worked so hard to achieve,” he stated earnestly.
Furthermore, Okodo urged group members to surround themselves with individuals who have a positive vision for the future. “If you wish to develop,” he advised, “you must align yourselves with those who share your ambitions.”
James Auna, representing Dr Agness Atim Apea as the chief guest, echoed Okodo’s sentiments, emphasising his role as an ambassador to promote the Arwot group.
Policarp Ogang, the chairperson of the association, expressed pride in what they have achieved so far, marking a significant step towards improving their community.
Nelson Odopo, the chairperson of the LCIII of Etam town council, also reflected on the significance of this development, stating that he is proud to see such initiatives taking place within his jurisdiction during his leadership.
As the event concluded, members of the Arwot group expressed their optimism about their future endeavours. They believe that with the skills and training they have acquired, they are well-positioned to compete effectively in the market.
In conclusion, Okodo’s appeal serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility each member of the community has in fostering a culture of integrity and development, steering clear of crime for the benefit of all.
