On 3rd May 2025, the residents of Abolonyero village in Agwingiri parish and Agweno Pe Tongo Ting village in Abaler parish celebrated a momentous occasion: the repair of a vital borehole by Colonel Ongia Francis.

This borehole had been out of service for over two years, leaving the community struggling with water scarcity. The joy among locals was palpable as they finally regained access to clean water.

Mr. Tyan Moses, the chairperson of the local council in Abolonyero village, expressed gratitude towards Colonel Ongia, highlighting the long struggle they faced while seeking help from various leaders. “Despite our persistent efforts, no one came to our aid until Colonel Ongia stepped in. His actions have truly transformed our lives,” he remarked.

The relief was not just about the water itself; for residents like Susan Abel and Dorcus, it meant a return to basic personal hygiene that had previously been difficult to maintain.

“We used to travel long distances for water, but now that burden has been lifted from our shoulders,” they shared excitedly. Their newfound appreciation for Colonel Ongia’s assistance also translated into political support, as both women expressed their intention to back him in the upcoming elections. “His compassion and dedication to our community mean a lot to us.”

“It feels like a dream to have clean water so close to us. We suffered long enough,” she said with a smile. Immaculate also pledged her support for Colonel Ongia’s candidacy for the Kioga County Member of Parliament in 2026, acknowledging the profound impact his contributions have made to her life and her community.
