The territorial police in Amolatar District have apprehended two individuals related to the suspected murder of 26-year-old Agweng Mercy.
The incident was brought to the attention of authorities by Opungu Jaspher, the vice chairperson of Adum Cell in Adum Ward, Etam Town Council.
According to the North Kyoga Region police spokesperson, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the tragic events unfolded on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
On that day, Agweng Mercy was reportedly at home with her mother-in-law, Arao Mercy, and her husband, Otim Dan, when she was allegedly stabbed by her husband.
It is believed that the attack stemmed from suspicions that Agweng was practicing witchcraft. After the incident, Otim Dan reportedly transported her to a nearby clinic within Etam, where she was pronounced dead around 10:00 AM.
Police officers from the Etam Town Council Police Station promptly visited the crime scene to document the situation and gather evidence.
