Local government officials and leaders of the PDM Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisation (SACCO) highlighted significant financial disbursements across various sub counties aimed at empowering community members.
During the meeting, it was confirmed that substantial funds had been deposited into the accounts of different wards. Specifically, Amirimiri ward received UGX 51,900,000; Inomo, UGX 50,400,000; Aburkot, UGX 51,400,000; Epyel, UGX 51,900,000; and Apalepee, UGX 50,400,000.
Mrs Kala Teddy Ojok, the focal point person for PDM in Amolatar, commended the female beneficiaries for their responsible use of the funds and urged all recipients to invest wisely to improve their livelihoods, while also discouraging domestic violence.
Mrs Ojok stressed the importance of integrity within SACCO leadership, cautioning against soliciting funds from PDM beneficiaries and emphasising that the assistance provided is fully complimentary.
Assistant Resident District Commissioner Ogonya Bonniface also spoke during the meeting, emphasising the need for Local Council One to thoroughly verify the list of beneficiaries to ensure only eligible individuals access the funds.
He explicitly warned SACCO leaders against involving mobile money operators in transactions with beneficiaries, advising them to rely instead on traditional banking services.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the district, Assistant RDC Sarah Tyan acknowledged President Museveni’s contributions towards funding development initiatives and encouraged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the resources provided.
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Paul Samuel Mpiiwa, reiterated strict guidelines for technical staff and parish chiefs, warning against any attempts to collect money from beneficiaries.
He emphasised his commitment to ensuring that this third year of the programme benefits the intended individuals, despite challenges encountered in previous phases, and underscored the need for responsible fund usage by all beneficiaries.
Additionally, the District Security Officer, Mr Edward, revealed that he possesses evidence of individuals attempting to extort money from beneficiaries and vowed to take immediate action against those involved.
He also advised politicians to refrain from politicising the PDM initiative, urging a focus on genuine community upliftment.
In summary, the meeting underlined the commitment of Amolatar District’s leadership to uphold transparency and accountability in the distribution of PDM funds, ensuring they reach those they are intended to support.
Beneficiaries were encouraged to use the funds wisely, thereby contributing to their own welfare and the overall development of their communities.
