Dr. Agnes Atim Apea Seeks Re-election: A Visionary Leader Championing Amolatar’s Development

As Uganda gears up for the next general elections, the people of Amolatar District have a reason to reflect on the impactful transformative leadership of their Woman Member of Parliament, Dr. Agnes Atim Apea, who has officially declared her bid for re-election. 

A pragmatic and visionary leader, Dr. Apea has been a formidable voice for Amolatar in the 11th Parliament, advocating for grassroots development, women’s empowerment, education, and healthcare improvements. Her tenure has been marked by tangible projects and legislative contributions that have uplifted many lives in the district. 

Since assuming office, Dr. Apea has championed several key initiatives, including: 

– Education Advocacy: She has lobbied lobbied for construction of Etam, Arwotcek, Akwon and Agikdak seed schools, Agikdak SDA Secondary School, construction of Aninolal, Akuriluba,  Primary schools, renovation of Aputi Primary school among others; scholarships for needy students, ensuring that education remains a priority in Amolatar. 

– Healthcare Improvements: Recognizing the district’s health challenges, she has lobbied for construction of children’s ward at Amolatar HCIII, Theater at Amai Hospital and provided beds, mama kits for better-equipped health centers and increased access to maternal care, reducing maternal and child mortality rates. 

– Women & Youth Empowerment: Through economic programs and skills training, she has fundraiser 50m to start the construction of youth skills development Centre, supported women and youth in entrepreneurship buy providing saving boxes and seed capital to all the 650 villages in Amolatar helping them start small businesses and become self-reliant. 

Agriculture development: Dr Apea contributed significantly to the development of agriculture in Amolatar and the country as a whole through a variety of efforts including but not limited to: Drafting, legislating and passing Fish and Aquaculture Bill to improve fisheries and fishers livelihood, Advocating for farmer-friendly policies in parliament, such as minimum, crop insurance, and tax waivers, increased budget allocations to agriculture, Promoting local irrigation projects  in NAMASALE and Etam, Facilitating training programs for farmers, Establishing rice and maize mills in Amolatar and Namsale for value addition and to reduce post-harvest losses, Connecting farmers to micro support Centre, providing maize seeds and poultry chic to farmers, widows, youth, PWDs among others .

– Infrastructure Development: Dr. Apea has worked closely with government agencies to improve roads and water access, addressing long-standing challenges in the district.

She lobbied 1.2B to construct the district administration offices which is going.

Why She Deserves Another Term

Residents who have benefited from her leadership describe her as approachable, hardworking, and deeply committed to Amolatar’s growth. 

“Dr. Apea doesn’t just talk; she delivers. She has helped our community with Mobile Clinic Ambulance, she carried out medical camps that treated and provided specialized services to thousand of people, supported our children’s education, and always listens to our concerns,” said Jane Adong, a local entrepreneur. 

Political analysts note that her grassroots connection and legislative effectiveness make her a strong contender for re-election. Her campaign will focus on continuity, sustainable development, and amplifying Amolatar’s voice in national debates. 

As she embarks on her re-election journey, Dr. Apea remains optimistic about Amolatar’s future. “We have made progress, but there is more work to be done. Together, we can achieve greater development and ensure no one is left behind;she stated during her campaign launch.
