In a significant statement ahead of the upcoming elections, the Lango Paramount Chief, Dr. Eng. Michael Odongo Okune, has issued a stern warning to politicians, urging them not to mortgage or sell family property to fund their political ambitions.

Chief Odongo Okune emphasized the importance of preserving family values and assets, advising aspiring politicians to seek campaign resources through means that do not jeopardize their family’s well-being. He pointed out that selling property to raise money for votes is a misguided and harmful approach.

“Anyone genuinely seeking political leadership should rely on the strength of their manifesto to convince the electorate,” he asserted, adding that trust and genuine commitment to service should be the foundation of any political campaign.

Further addressing the voters, the Paramount Chief cautioned against supporting candidates who spend lavishly on campaigns.

He highlighted that such individuals often lack true leadership spirit and are more likely to prioritize recovering their personal investments over serving the community’s interests once in office.

Emphasizing the need for integrity, Chief Odongo Okune called upon political aspirants to reject corruption and uphold the values cherished by the Lango people.
