On Sunday, August 3, 2025, a suspected grenade was unearthed in the garden of a resident in Inomo cell, located within Amolatar town council.
The alarming discovery has triggered a swift response from local authorities and law enforcement to ensure the safety of residents.
In a visit to the site by our reporter on Tuesday 2025, Mr. Okwel Abili, it was observed that the grenade-like object had been brought to the garden by local children, reportedly found elsewhere before ending up in the home of the unsuspecting resident.
The local council chairperson expressed concerns about the origins of the dangerous artifact and the potential risks posed to the community.
Residents have been living in fear since the initial finding, prompting Okwel to urge security forces to act quickly to detonate the suspected grenade.
He emphasized the need for prompt action to alleviate the anxieties gripping the neighborhood.
A police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that police had cordoned off an area in Inomo cell, suspecting that two grenade objects may be present.
The officer reassured the community that the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) has been notified and will be dispatched from Achol Pii to manage the situation.
Authorities are advising all nearby residents to maintain a safe distance from the area while preparations for the detonation are underway.
As the situation develops, the focus remains on ensuring the safety and security of the Amolatar community.
