In a commendable effort to improve healthcare in Kioga County, Amolatar District, James Patrick Ogwalpadi, a Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) candidate, has donated two ambulances to support the local community.
This significant gesture reflects his commitment to prioritising the wellbeing of residents over mere election promises.
In an interview with our reporter, Ogwalpadi emphasised that effective leadership should translate into tangible benefits for the people. “A good leader should provide something that can help the community, rather than simply promising development if elected,” he stated.
He highlighted the lack of support from politicians in Amolatar, vowing that if elected as the UPC flag bearer and Member of Parliament for Kioga County, he would focus closely on addressing the area’s developmental challenges.
Ogwalpadi noted that his initiative is particularly beneficial for women, specifically acknowledging the support provided by Dr Agnes Atim, the Woman MP.
He affirmed that the ambulances will serve wider areas within Amolatar, specifying that one will be stationed at Nakatiti Health Centre III and the other at Biko Health Centre III.
Addressing the financial resources allocated to MPs and constituency development, Ogwalpadi pledged to use these funds effectively to drive meaningful change in Amolatar, which he believes has been neglected for far too long.
The ambulances, registered under number plate UBE 286W, represent a step towards improved healthcare access for the people of the district.
Meanwhile, Mr Ogangi Sam, head of Ogwalpadi’s campaign team, shared his views on the importance of delivering development before seeking office. “In the UPC, we value candidates who bring genuine development to the community rather than making empty promises,” Ogangi stated.
He praised Ogwalpadi’s donation as a testament to his leadership qualities and urged UPC members to rally behind him as their flag bearer to drive progress in Amolatar.
As the election approaches, Ogwalpadi’s gesture serves as a reminder that true leadership is demonstrated through actions that uplift and empower the communities of Kioga County.
The UPC party nationwide is set to hold its party primaries on 16 August 2025.
