On 28 September 2025, Vice Chairperson of Northern Uganda, Government Chief Whip, and Member of Parliament for Ajuri County, Hon. Hamson Obua, convened an important meeting with committee members and leaders of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Lango.
The gathering included a delegation from the Central Executive Committee of the NRM and the NRM Secretariat, aimed at providing crucial updates to the expanded District Executive Committee members regarding President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s upcoming campaign activities in Lango.
In a media briefing following the meeting, Hon. Obua announced that General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the presidential candidate and National Chairman of the NRM, will officially launch his presidential campaign on Wednesday, 1 October 2025.
This launch will follow the introductory rally scheduled for 30 September in Luwero.
The campaign will commence with a vibrant rally in Amolatar on the morning of 1 October, followed by a second rally in Doko District later that day.
Over the following days, His Excellency will continue his tour across Lango, including visits to Alebtong on the morning of 2 October and Otuke District that evening.
Hon. Obua emphasised the importance of solidarity among NRM members, leaders, and the people of Lango during this campaign period. He urged everyone to extend a warm welcome to President Museveni and to support his leadership in the upcoming elections.
Highlighting the achievements under President Museveni’s administration, Hon. Obua noted that Uganda has enjoyed peace and significant development across all regions, including Lango.
He further highlighted programmes initiated by the President aimed at wealth creation, enhancing the livelihoods of Ugandans.
In conclusion, Hon. Obua reaffirmed Lango’s unwavering support for President Museveni, urging all party leaders and supporters to mobilise the community effectively to ensure a decisive victory for His Excellency in the 2026 elections.
