Authorities in Amolatar Town Council wiill today Tuesday bury the body of an unidentified man that police recovered floating at the Kayago landing site after no relatives came forward to claim him.
Speaking to our reporter today, Isaac Oyuru, the Health Inspector for Amolatar Town Council, stated that the burial followed permission granted by the police after an extensive search for the deceased’s relatives yielded no results.
Oyuru explained that the deceased was a male whose body was found floating at Kayago landing site in Namasale, Amolatar District.
The body was discovered on March 29, 2026, while it was still floating on the water.
Police recovered the body and transported it to the Amolatar Health Center IV mortuary, hoping relatives would claim it, but no one appeared.
He further noted that because the body was already in an advanced state of decomposition, it could no longer be kept in storage.
Consequently, they requested police authorization this morning to proceed with the burial.
He also urged anyone with a missing relative to report to Amolatar Central Police Station to see if they can identify the deceased through the photographs taken by the police.
