Government-donated handheld tractors intended to boost local agriculture are facing operational challenges, local leaders report.

Mr. Bosco Amone, chairperson of LC3 Ogom sub-county, noted that the tractors received are incomplete, missing essential parts crucial for farming tasks.

Mr. Freddy Steven Okello, chairperson of LC3 Angagura sub-county, added that the tractors frequently break down during ploughing attempts, hampering farming activities.

In response, Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Wangi Micheal earlier proposed forming maintenance committees to oversee and repair the tractors, aiming to address these mechanical issues and support local agriculture effectively.

Agricultural Officer Mr. Seydou Opoka Adolatona expressed optimism about the committees’ potential despite financial constraints. He emphasizes the need to maximize available resources to maintain and enhance tractor functionality, encouraging collaboration between local leaders and farmers for sustainable agricultural development in Pader District.
