Pader Woman MP Hon. Aciro Paska Menya donates tents to support mobile catering groups
The Woman Member of Parliament for Pader District, Hon. Aciro Paska Menya, has officially launched the donation of tents to 17 mobile catering groups and handed over key transport items to local leaders. This initiative is part of a broader effort to empower grassroots communities and fulfil long-standing pledges.
The launch ceremony, held in Pajule Town Council, began with the distribution of tents to three groups: Catering Group of Koyo, Pajule Women, and Wamare Mobile Catering Group.
Hon. Aciro Paska Menya stated that the tent donation is part of fulfilling promises she made earlier in her term, noting that she plans to return and seek the people’s trust for another term in office.
“This donation is not just about providing tents; it is about honouring the commitments I made to our people. These tents, valued at over 30 million shillings, are intended to strengthen local catering groups and help them increase their income,” she said.
The event also celebrated 25 students who recently completed their studies at Kampala University in various academic and vocational disciplines, several of whom received tuition support from the MP.
However, Hon. Menya emphasised that the students’ success was the result of a joint effort between her office and the parents, who also made significant sacrifices to ensure their children completed their education.
“We worked hand in hand with the parents,” she noted. “While I supported tuition and fees where I could, the parents also played their part. Together, we have created a brighter future for these young people.”
Mego Rose Oleke, a parent from Conner Kilak in Pader Sub county, expressed her gratitude to the MP for sponsoring her son, Komakech Ben Owiny, through his university education in veterinary medicine. She appealed to the district leadership to consider him in the upcoming recruitment process.
Among the honoured students was Odong Sam from Porogali Sub-county, who completed a course in Business Administration, specialising in Accounting.
“I had lost hope in education, but Hon. Paska lifted me from zero to hero. I am now a graduate with a purpose.”
Aporo Scovia, a Computer Science and Information Technology graduate from Bongtiko Sub-county, also expressed her gratitude:
“I thank the MP and the parents. This is not just my achievement; it’s a victory for all of us.”
As part of the event, Hon. Menya also presented a brand-new motorcycle, registration number UMA 672BX, to the Pader District Women’s Council Office, and a bicycle to Odongo Bosco, the LC1 Chairperson of Lakoga Central Village.
These items fulfilled a pledge made by the Minister for Works and Transport, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, during a previous Women’s Day celebration in Pader.
Mego Apio Jenifer, the District Women’s Council leader, said the motorcycle would improve their outreach and coordination efforts.
“We have been struggling with transport, but this support will help us reach more women and involve them in government programmes.”
The LC1 Chairperson of Lakoga Central Village, Odongo Bosco, expressed his deep appreciation for the bicycle donation, saying it will greatly ease his work in mobilising the community.
“This will make mobilising my village much easier. I thank both the Minister and Hon. Paska for remembering us.”
The ceremony was marked by celebration and appreciation, emphasising fulfilled pledges, unity in development, and ongoing investment in youth empowerment and community progress in Pader District.
