Achol-Pii Army school passes out 470 trained patriotic students

On 23 April 2026, Achol-Pii Army Secondary School passed out 470 Senior One students after a week of patriotism training. Pader Deputy RDC Omogin Augustine presided over the ceremony, praising discipline, national values, and outstanding student performance in drills and leadership.

A total of 470 Senior One students at Achol-Pii Army Secondary School successfully completed a week-long patriotism and leadership training programme, culminating in a colorful pass-out ceremony held at the school playground on Thursday.

The event was officiated by the Pader District Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC), Omogin Augustine, who served as the chief guest.

The ceremony marked the conclusion of an intensive training conducted from April 17 to April 23, 2026, aimed at instilling discipline, national values, and a sense of responsibility among the learners.

Delivering the official training report, Course Coordinator L/Cpl Kamungisha Arnold confirmed that all 470 students from the 2026 Senior One intake had successfully completed the programme.

He highlighted that the training combined both theoretical and practical components, focusing on ideology, patriotism, Uganda’s history and governance, as well as physical drills and teamwork exercises.

Kamungisha emphasized that patriotism goes beyond ceremonial displays, describing it as a daily commitment involving discipline, respect for national symbols, unity, and the protection of national resources.

He commended the students for demonstrating improved confidence, teamwork, and responsibility throughout the training period, noting that no major cases of misconduct were recorded.

Outstanding students were also recognized during the ceremony.

Acan Beatrice Bafuba, the Parade Commander and overall best student, hails from Lira District Omendi Gread, awarded best in discipline, comes from Lamwo District; and Olao Silas, recognized for best drill performance, is from Lira City.

Speaking at the event, Deputy in Charge of Academics Etuk Jimmy Andrew congratulated the students upon their achievement and urged them to maintain discipline and focus in their academic journey.

He underscored the importance of respect, hard work, and national pride as key pillars for success.

He called upon the students to embrace unity and responsibility as they progress in their education.

The Head Teacher, Major James Alomu, praised the trainees for their commitment and transformation over the course of the programme.

He stressed that discipline is essential for both personal and national development and warned against indiscipline, urging students to apply the values acquired during the training in their daily lives.

Adding a military perspective, Lt. Col. David Ntimba, Commanding Officer of the 12 Artillery Regiment, who was representing the 5 Infantry Division Commander Major General Keith Katungi, congratulated the students for their resilience and growth.

He emphasized the importance of leadership, unity, and discipline, encouraging the graduates to continue upholding these values beyond the training environment.

In his keynote address, Chief Guest Omogin Augustine commended the initiative, describing it as vital in shaping responsible citizens and future leaders.

He highlighted the role of education, discipline, and patriotism in national development, aligning his message with Uganda’s Vision 2040 goals.

He also applauded the school administration, instructors, and security personnel for their dedication and professionalism in delivering the programme.

The ceremony concluded with a call for the graduates to remain loyal to Uganda, respect the law, promote peace and unity, and strive for academic excellence.

As the students marched off the parade ground, the event stood as a testament to the impact of structured patriotism training in nurturing disciplined and responsible young citizens.
