As Uganda celebrated 63 years of independence, Rapa FM 88.3 opened its doors to children from across Pader district for a heartwarming “Chill with the Presenters” event at the station’s studios.
The visit brought joy and excitement as the children interacted with their favorite presenters, took photos, and shared Independence Day greetings live on air.
Among the cheerful visitors were Laker Costa, Auma Sunday, Omara Genesis, Atimango Caroline, Mich Happy Praise, Lanyero Gloria, and Opio David, among others.
They were hosted by Rapa FM’s dynamic team of presenters Okello Bonny Oscar, Oyoo David Acire, popularly known as Bing Devo, and Opio Teresnsio, also known as Sio.
The presenters guided the children through the radio production process and encouraged them to work hard toward their dreams.
Speaking at the event, Okello Bonny Oscar said the experience was meant to give children exposure to media and inspire them at a young age.
“We wanted the children to feel part of Rapa FM and the Independence Day spirit. They are the voice of the next generation, and we are proud to celebrate with them,” he said.
Rapa FM Station Manager, James Patrick Odongo, praised the initiative, calling it a reflection of the station’s commitment to community engagement and youth empowerment.
“At Rapa FM, we believe in nurturing young talent and building confidence among children. Today’s event was not just about celebration, but about inspiring future broadcasters, leaders, and storytellers,” he remarked.
The event concluded with group photos and lively Independence Day greetings from the young visitors, echoing the true spirit of unity, joy, and freedom that defines Uganda’s independence.
