Fatal road accident claims life in Pader district

A tragic road accident claimed the life of Omony Ceasar, a 40-year-old resident of Pajule Town Council, after a water tanker he was driving overturned along the Pajule–Pader road on the evening of 7 August 2025.

The fatal incident occurred at around 5:00 pm in Labongolung village, when a white Mitsubishi truck water tanker, registration number UG 2431W, lost control and veered off the road. Eyewitnesses and police reports indicate the truck overturned due to slippery road conditions caused by rain, fatally trapping the driver underneath.

A co-driver, whose identity has not yet been released, survived the crash and was rushed to a nearby health facility in Pajule Town for emergency treatment.

Police and emergency response

A joint response team from Pader District Police, including traffic officers and the District Criminal Investigations Officer, quickly arrived at the scene. The body of the deceased was recovered after cutting through the wreckage.

The vehicle remains at the scene pending removal. According to IP Oloya Joe, Public Relations Officer for Aswa East Region Police, investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a grim reminder of the risks associated with driving during poor weather conditions. Authorities continue to urge all road users to exercise caution, especially during the rainy season.
