Dfcu Bank supports Pader ahead of National Cleaning Exercise

Dfcu Bank has donated cleaning materials to Pader Town Council ahead of tomorrow’s National Cleaning Exercise, as local leaders call on residents to participate in large numbers.

The bank donated 10 cartons of water, 30 brooms and 15 reflector jackets to support the exercise, which aims to improve cleanliness and environmental hygiene in Pader Town Council.

Speaking during the handover on Friday, Dfcu Bank Branch Manager Julius Ogeatum said the bank decided to support the exercise because it considers itself a development partner in Pader.

Ogeatum said Dfcu Bank wants to work alongside the community and support government initiatives aimed at improving the environment and public cleanliness.

He said the bank depends on the support of people in Pader Town and Pader District, making it important for Dfcu Bank to give back to the community.

Ogeatum appealed to residents to turn up in large numbers tomorrow and support the National Cleaning Exercise by cleaning their surroundings.

Torach Quito, Town Agent for Acoro Parish, who received the items on behalf of the Town Council, thanked Dfcu Bank for the donation and its continued support whenever the council seeks assistance.

Quito said the exercise is important for the development of the town and maintaining a clean environment.

Meanwhile, Pader Town Council Town Clerk, Mark Lamson Okello, welcomed the bank’s support and said the council is ready to implement the Government’s National Cleaning Day programme.

Okello thanked the Government for introducing the initiative, saying it will help improve general cleanliness across Uganda. He urged residents to cooperate and make Pader Town Council clean and attractive, noting that good hygiene can make the town more appealing to visitors.

Okello also said the UPDF 5th Division will join Pader Town Council in tomorrow’s National Cleaning Exercise, adding that their participation will strengthen community efforts to improve sanitation, cleanliness and environmental hygiene across the town.

LC3 Councillor Kilama Fearless Wodacholi called on local leaders and LC officials to mobilise residents to participate in tomorrow’s exercise.

Kilama also appreciated Dfcu Bank’s continued support, saying the bank has contributed to environmental conservation in addition to providing financial assistance.

The leaders have urged residents to treat cleanliness as a shared responsibility and turn up in large numbers for tomorrow’s exercise.

National Cleaning Day is part of the Government’s monthly programme to promote sanitation, public health and environmental conservation across Uganda.

The exercise is held from 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. on the last Saturday of every month, with the Government urging citizens to make cleanliness a shared responsibility and sustain the practice beyond the designated cleaning day.
