Gulu City | 8 August 2025 — Richard Ojwini, the LC3 Chairperson of Pukor Sub county in Pader District, has once again fallen victim to motorcycle theft — this time losing his personal red motorcycle, registration number UEK 689K, on Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred at Lacor Centre in Gulu City, where Ojwini had briefly stopped to purchase airtime. According to police records, the case was officially reported at Lacor Police Station under reference SD Ref: 181/07/08/2025.
This marks the second theft targeting Ojwini in under two weeks. On 28 July 2025, his government-issued motorcycle, registration UG 4236R, was stolen from outside Alikin Hotel in Pader Town. That case is still under investigation at Pader Central Police Station (SD Ref: 08/28/7/2025), though controversy surrounds it after hotel management and some witnesses denied the theft occurred on their premises.

Speaking to reporters, Ojwini expressed frustration and concern, suspecting political motives behind the repeated attacks. He had previously reported receiving threats to his life during the recent NRM party primaries.
“It is too much of a coincidence to ignore. I feel these incidents are part of something bigger,” Ojwini said.
The back-to-back incidents have raised serious concerns about the safety and security of local leaders, especially in the lead-up to political events and mobilisation campaigns. Police have urged the public to cooperate with ongoing investigations and to report any information that may assist in recovering the stolen motorcycles or identifying those responsible for the thefts.
