Pader Town Council has launched road improvement works with support from Agago District after equipment challenges. Leaders highlighted infrastructure progress, market development, and community access improvements while calling for increased government funding to maintain the town’s growing road network.

Pader Town Council has intensified road improvement works aimed at enhancing connectivity and supporting community development despite challenges caused by limited equipment and funding.

The LCIII Chairperson of Pader Town Council, Mr. Kilama Fearless Wodacholi, said the ongoing works were made possible after the council sought support from neighbouring Agago District following the breakdown of the district road equipment.

He thanked Agago District for providing equipment support, describing the partnership as a demonstration of good neighborliness and cooperation.

According to Kilama, the road works, initially planned for March during the 2025/2026 financial year, were delayed due to equipment challenges but are now progressing well.

He appealed to residents and government authorities to support road maintenance efforts, noting that Pader Town Council has over 100 kilometres of roads, but available funding can only maintain about 27 kilometres.

The Town Clerk of Pader Town Council, Mr. Mark Lamson Okello, said the council had initially planned to work on about two kilometres of roads but the scope may expand due to the construction of a new market and relocation of vendors.

He added that grading and reshaping works will begin once a grader becomes available.
