Teachers in Pader district are facing challenges in speaking English, a situation that has drawn concern from the district’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Micheal Wangi.
Speaking to our reporter on September 9, 2024, Wangi revealed that the Pader District Local Government is planning to weed out unqualified teachers from its primary and secondary schools as part of efforts to improve the education sector.
Wangi pointed out that the lack of proficiency in English among some teachers is affecting students’ performance, particularly in final exams.
He stressed that this deficiency is compromising the future of the children, as effective communication and quality education are crucial to a nation’s development.
In 2019, the Ministry of Education and Sports removed over 30,000 teachers during verification and registration exercises.
