Pader district speaker, Mr Wellborn Ottober Odiya on Wednesday, 3rd April 2024 faced criticism after he uttered a political comment in his speech during the sendoff of Late Valentino Olum, a father to Pader district LCV vice chairperson, Mr Justine Ocen in Amokolagwai, Latanya sub-county.
Mr Ottober was quoted, while introducing himself that; “he is the person that locals in Aruu North is yearning for, come 2026 for MP position.”
However, his sentiments were not welcomed by the Pader district LC V chairperson Col (rtd) Fearless Obwoya Oyat, who immediately asked him to make apologies. Obwoya observes that burial places are not political campaigning places.
Obwoya’s comment caused an uproar among the mourners, but, Mr Ottober did not heed to Obwoya’s plea.
Late Mzee Valentino Olum, 91, died on 23rd March 2024 after suffering from Benign prostatic hyperplasia and hemiparesis following its diagnosis in 2013, leaving behind 229 grandchildren.
