On 15 November 2024, former Pader LC V Chairperson Oringa Largo Godfrey called on residents of Greater Pajule to unite in upgrading Paiula Health Centre II to Health Centre III status. Speaking during a community meeting at the facility, Largo emphasised the importance of collective effort to improve healthcare services in the area.

“This is an opportunity to significantly enhance healthcare in our area, especially for mothers and children, but it requires unity and commitment from the community,” Largo said.

The Ministry of Health has approved the upgrade, but it requires four acres of land before work can begin. District Councillor Okello Ballex stressed the need for accurate documentation to secure continued ministry support.

“Accurate record-keeping will strengthen our case with the Ministry and help us attract additional resources,” Ballex said.

Akello Christine, the in-charge at Paiula Health Centre II, highlighted land shortages as the main challenge to the project. “The lack of adequate land is our biggest barrier to expanding services,” she noted.

Landowner Okot James urged authorities to resolve disputes delaying the upgrade. “We need fair compensation to settle these issues and pave the way for development,” he said.

Samson Ocaya, representing the district health officer, called on health workers to maintain professionalism. “Staff should prioritise antenatal care and other critical services to meet national standards,” he remarked.

The community is now tasked with acquiring the land needed to realise the upgrade, which promises to significantly improve healthcare access in Greater Pajule.
