Kioga North County parliamentary aspirant Peter Okodo has pledged to provide training for various village savings groups within the constituency, highlighting the importance of improved financial management skills.
He made the announcement during his visit to the Par pi Anyim Village Savings Group on Sunday, 4 May 2025.
“Many members of our savings groups struggle to progress because they lack the necessary knowledge to manage their finances effectively,” Mr Okodo stated, emphasising his commitment to empowering local communities through education and training.
Lolo Nick, the secretary of the Par pi Anyim group, shared the significant progress the group has made over the past year. “In just four months, we have managed to collect 18 million shillings, and we are hopeful of reaching over 80 million by the end of the year,” he revealed, highlighting the group’s potential for success with the right support.
Earlier that same day, Mr Okodo also commissioned the repair of boreholes in Alobokwe and Adagani villages. Imat Silvia from Alobokwe expressed her gratitude for his support, stating, “We appreciate the efforts made by Mr Okodo; access to clean water will change our lives for the better.”
In conclusion, Mr Okodo urged members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) not to abandon the party, emphasising that it envisions a better future for all citizens. “Let us embrace peace and unity as we work towards meaningful development for our communities,” he said, reiterating the importance of collective effort in achieving progress.
This initiative by Mr Okodo brings hope to many in the Kioga North constituency, as the emphasis on education and development within savings groups could significantly boost local economies and enhance livelihoods.
