VHTs, Village Chairpersons across Kibaale Trained ahead of Mass Yellow Fever Vaccination

Village Health Team members (VHTs) and village chairpersons from across Sub Counties in Kibaale district have on Monday undergone a one-day training ahead of the yellow fever mass vaccination campaign slated to start on Wednesday this week.

Kibaale district has 187,000 doses that will cater for about two hundred twenty-two thousand, nine hundred fifty-seven people (222,957 people) that fall between 9months to 60 years old, making 93% of the two hundred twenty-eight thousand, eighty (228,080) total population.

The training has been conducted by Sub County/ town council Health Assistants.

Enock Kyakunzire, the project supervisor from the Ministry of Health has called on VHTs, local leaders among other stakeholders to double efforts in mobilization of the masses to embrace the vaccination exercise that will end on Sunday 18th.

James Asiimwe, the Assistant Kibaale District Health Officer says the first two days (Wednesday & Thursday) will be offered to schools, then later to each village and other selected public places.

Some of the VHTs and village chairpersons who were trained on Monday at Bwamiramira Sub County headquarters say that they are ready to ensure the vaccination exercise is a success.
