23-year old Motorcycle thief Handed 4 and a half jail sentence in Kibaale

A 23-year old man have been handed a four and a half years jail sentence in Kyakasengura government prison after being found guilty of stealing a motorcycle.
Geoffrey Tumwine alias Frank Atugonza a resident of Kayanja village in Kayanja Sub County Kibaale District was sentenced by Emmanuel Niyokwizeera, the Kibaale grade one magistrate.
Court on Thursday heard prosecution that, on 29th October last year Tumwine stole a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle Reg. No. UEO 470Q valued at three million shillings, property of Godfrey Ategeka.
It was also heard that, on that day Tumwine hired the motorcycle at eighteen thousand shillings from Ategeka for self-drive but on return he claimed that he had lost it to thugs.
Court sentenced him basing on evidence before it and also ruled that he should repay the motorcycle in compensation and also pay a fine one million shillings.
