Police in Kibaale district are investigating the brutal murder of a 64-year-old woman in Busaana cell, Kibaale town council.
The deceased has been identified as Margret Night, a resident of Busaana cell and a wife to John Kumalirwaki from Kabasekende subcounty.
It is alleged that the deceased was murdered on Saturday night by unknown assailants who struck her on the head with an unidentified object. Her body was then dumped in a nursery bed garden opposite St. Luke Bujuni Health Center III, a few meters from Katerere roundabout.
Stephen Balirora, the owner of the nursery bed who discovered the body, said he had gone to check on his plants when he saw the body.
He immediately informed the police of Karuguuza, who arrived at the scene and identified the deceased as his sister-in-law.
It was also noted that the deceased was the mother of a young girl, Bridget Wamani, who was murdered 2 years ago at the same location by unknown assailants.
William Sentogo, the secretary for defense Busaana cell, has asked authorities to install streetlights from Katerere roundabout up to Bujuni graveyard, as the area has become a hotspot for criminals during night.
By press time, a homicide team from Kibaale Police Station was at the crime scene to carry out investigations.
