Councilor arrested for stealing coffee in Kibaale

The Councilor representing Kiyanja Parish in Kyebando subcounty council, Kibaale district, has been arrested by Kibaale police on allegations of possessing 400 kilograms of stolen dried coffee valued between UGX 2.5 million and UGX 3 million.
The suspect, Councilor Sadam Hussein, was arrested over the past weekend alongside his accomplice, identified only as Simon, a resident of Kiyanja village in Kyebando subcounty.
The suspects allegedly stole the coffee from a businessperson identified as Bahemuka, who owns coffee stores in Kiyanja trading centre and Igayaza town council, Kakumiro district.
Councilor Sadam, who is also involved in produce buying, allegedly purchased the stolen coffee from Simon, who is accused of breaking into Bahemuka’s store.
Didasi Arukwera, the LC3 Chairperson of Kyebando subcounty, confirmed the arrest of the duo and condemned the act, emphasising that a leader should set an exemplary standard for the community.
Detectives from Kibaale Police Station, who preferred to remain anonymous, also confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations have commenced.
