Hailstorm leaves residents counting heavy losses in two subcounties of Kibaale district

Residents in Kibaale District are facing severe losses after a heavy rainstorm accompanied by hailstorm destroyed large sections of crops, raising fears of food shortages and loss of livelihoods in Kyebando and Kayanja subcounties.

Local leaders and church leaders of Kyebando subcounty led by Didas Arukwera the LC 3 chairperson, say that the subcounty headquarters administration block and Binambo Divine Mercy proposed catholic parish church were unroofed leaving office equipment and documents damaged.

The affected areas include Kisalizi A and B, Watuna, Kakenzi and Mutagata.

Residents are calling for assistance following the loss of property including; over 10 unroofed houses and damaged crops.

According to KDRs correspondent John Tibeetera, 6 villages including Igunda , Katwetwe, Kyazilimu, Kamuhoko, Bigaga and Kihogoro have been affected and that the administration block of St Peters Community Primary School and 2 classrooms were unroofed, 2 pigs killed, crops damaged among others.
