Buyanja East MP Donates Shs10 Million towards Church Roofing Projects in Matale Sub County

Excitement has engulfed Christians of St. Edward Kitengeto and St. Paul Igayaza Catholic Churches in Matale Sub-county after the Buyanja East MP, Dr. Emely Kugonza, donated 10 million shillings towards the roofing of their churches.

Dr. Emely first made a donation of 5 million shillings during a Holy Mass at St. Edward Kitengeto Catholic Church, led by Rev. Fr. Charles Kakooza, to support of the ongoing church construction project, which has now reached the roofing stage.

Later, Dr Emely joined Christians at St. Paul Igayaza Catholic Church and handed over 5 million shillings to support the roofing of their church, which is also under construction.

The Chairperson of the Construction Committee at St. Edward Kitengeto Catholic Church, Mark Kyaboona, informed Dr. Emely that construction of the modern church began in 2017 and requires 450 iron sheets, estimated at over 70 million shillings.

Robert Bulemu, the chairperson of the construction committee at St. Paul Igayaza Catholic Church, says their church also requires 250 iron sheets at an estimated cost of over 45 million shillings.

Addressing Christians at the two churches, Dr. Emely commended the congregation for their commitment towards the construction projects and encouraged them to continue working together to achieve their goals.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and adhere to the Ministry of Health Standard Operating Procedures aimed at preventing the spread of Ebola.

Dr. Emely further pledged 2 million shillings towards the construction of a latrine at St. Edward Kitengeto Catholic Church.

His donations were received with cheers and excitement from Christians, who praised him for supporting church development and other community projects in the area.

Later, Dr. Emely interacted with residents of Igayaza village during a meeting attended by former District Councilor representing Older Persons, Ignatius Tibamwenda.
