The river bust its banks on Monday morning in the villages of Kiganda and Kabasuma Kiboijana villages after days of heavy rainfall, with uncontrolled floodwaters washing away sections of the road and damaging critical structural components of the river.

The floods have also swept large volumes of debris, including uprooted papyrus vegetation, downstream, further threatening the remaining groundwork leaving hundreds of travelers, truck drivers and public service vehicle operators stranded on both sides of the river, with no alternative routes available.
