Kibaale police are holding a moneylender identified as Emmanuel John Mukisa, a proprietor of Mwije Holdings Uganda Limited, on allegations of effecting an illegal eviction and maliciously destroying property at the home of one Joseph Ssali.
Mukisa who is currently detained at Kibaale police station together with other his four casual workers identified as Denis Kyomuhendo, Jostus Kirabo, Julius Tumwebaze and Isaac Ayampa, yesterday trespassed in the land of Joseph Ssali and forcefully planted maize.
It is alleged that Joseph Ssali, a resident of Igimbi village in Nyamarunda Sub County, mortgaged a land agreement of a half an acre with a residential house to Mukisa of Mwije Holdings Uganda Ltd for a loan of 3.5 million shillings.
Ssali says he got the 3.5 shillings loan from Mukisa on 9th May last year at an interest rate of 15% and since then he has been paying back in instalments and so far he had paid over 2.3 million shillings but he was shocked when Mukisa and his workers invaded his land and started planting maize and instructed him to vacate from the residential house.

However, yesterday Ssali reported the case to the Kibaale RDC Godwin Angalia Kasigwa who swiftly ordered for the arrest of Mukisa together with his workers over illegal eviction.
On interrogation by RDC Angalia, Mukisa insists that he never lent money to Ssali but instead he bought the land and a residential house from him at a tune of 6 million shillings.
Mukisa on explaining the accusations
RDC Angalia has condemned the act of illegal eviction urging residents to desist from signing agreements of sale of their property in the name of borrowing from money lenders.
