In a bold move to combat climate change and promote sustainable development, Pride Bank Pader Branch has launched the Clean Energy Loan, a financial product designed to empower communities to adopt environmentally friendly solutions.
The loan aims to reduce reliance on firewood and charcoal, addressing deforestation while providing access to modern solar-powered systems for cooking, lighting, and powering appliances.
Speaking to Rapa FM, Isaac Okello, Branch Operations Manager, emphasized the bank’s commitment to responsible transformation.
“Pride Bank exists to transform lives responsibly. Instead of cutting trees for charcoal, people can now access solar solutions that provide energy for homes and businesses, contributing to both environmental preservation and economic growth,” he said.
The Clean Energy Loan is available to individuals aged 18 and above who have a Pride Bank account and a steady source of income.
Borrowers can access up to UGX 30 million, sufficient for projects such as solar installations and irrigation systems.
Pride Bank ensures that installations are done by qualified technicians and collaborates with reputable suppliers to guarantee quality and safety.
Okello noted that while the loan has seen high uptake in Kampala, Pader residents have yet to fully embrace it.
“The door is now open. Whether you already have a loan or are seeking your first, this product can help transform your life responsibly,” he added.
Environmentalists have hailed the initiative as a critical step toward climate-resilient communities, reducing carbon emissions and deforestation while improving access to clean energy.
With this loan, Pride Bank is not just offering financial support it is investing in a greener future, empowering communities in Pader to embrace sustainability, protect the environment, and secure livelihoods for generations to come.
