In a bold initiative aimed at ensuring children across the Acholi sub-region have access to quality education in a safe and nurturing environment, Milyer Nursery and Primary School, located in Kakoge, Lira City West Division, is mobilising pupils for its newly upgraded day and boarding programmes.

The school’s vision is clear: to nurture academically excellent, morally upright, and independent children capable of meeting life’s challenges.

Headteacher Otim Jeraherd emphasises, “We want parents throughout Lira, Agago, and Pader to trust us with their children. Our school is designed to provide not only academic excellence but also the right environment for character development and life skills.”

Founded with a mission to develop pupils with strong moral values and resilience, Milyer Nursery and Primary School has consistently delivered excellent PLE results, with the majority of students achieving Division 1 and very few in Division 2.

Over the years, this record of success has established the school as a leading educational institution in the region.

In response to parental demand for a more secure and structured learning environment, the school has introduced a full boarding programme. The campus is fully fenced with a secure gate, ensuring complete safety for all learners.

Boarding students enjoy clean and spacious dormitories, balanced meals, supervised play, weekend sports, guidance and counselling, and medical care from a qualified school nurse.

With responsible matrons and senior teachers overseeing daily routines, children can focus on learning while developing discipline, independence, and time-management skills.

The school’s competence-based curriculum goes beyond academics. Pupils engage in Music, Dance and Drama, modern debating formats, literacy programmes, hygiene and nutrition education, environmental conservation, and project-based learning.

One of the school’s most distinctive features is its fully established school farm, where pupils gain practical agricultural skills.

The poultry unit trains students in rearing layers and broilers, feeding, vaccination, hygiene, egg handling, and record-keeping.

In addition to providing hands-on experience, the farm contributes to the boarding pupils’ diet, reinforcing healthy living alongside learning.

To support families and encourage wider participation, Milyer Nursery and Primary School offers academic bursaries, free leisurewear, school-provided mattresses, and transport services.

These initiatives make education affordable and inclusive, allowing more children from the Acholi sub-region to benefit from the school’s structured, skills-based learning environment.

Parents across Lira, Agago, and Pader are encouraged to visit their nearest admission centres to collect forms and make inquiries.
