Milyer Nursery and Primary School has once again affirmed its status as one of the leading primary schools in Northern Uganda after posting impressive results in the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), with the vast majority of candidates excelling in Division One.

According to the official Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) results, the school registered 30 candidates, of whom 23 passed in Division One and 7 in Division Two, with no failures, no absentees, and no withheld results.

The strong performance reflects the school’s long-standing tradition of academic excellence and disciplined learning.

Speaking during the release of the results, Headteacher Otim Jeraherd attributed the success to teamwork and commitment across the school community.

“Over the years, Milyer Nursery and Primary School has consistently posted strong PLE results, with the majority of our learners attaining Division One. This year’s performance is a result of the dedication of our teachers, the discipline of our learners, and the cooperation of supportive parents,” he said.

Located in Kakoge, Lira City West Division, Milyer Nursery and Primary School was founded with a clear mission: to nurture academically excellent, morally upright, and independent children capable of meeting life’s challenges.

Over the years, this vision has guided the school’s growth and earned it recognition across Lira City, Agago, and Pader districts.

“We want parents across the Acholi sub-region to trust us with their children. Our focus is not only examination success, but also character development, discipline, and life skills,” Headteacher Jeraherd emphasised.

In response to growing demand for a secure and structured learning environment, the school has introduced a fully fledged boarding programme alongside its day school.

The campus is fully fenced with a controlled gate, ensuring learner safety at all times.

Boarding pupils benefit from clean and spacious dormitories, balanced meals, medical care from a qualified school nurse, supervised play, weekend sports, and guidance and counselling services.

Responsible matrons and senior teachers oversee daily routines, enabling pupils to develop discipline, independence, and time-management skills while focusing on their studies.

Milyer Nursery and Primary School implements a competence-based curriculum that goes beyond academics.

Learners actively participate in Music, Dance and Drama (MDD), modern debating formats, literacy programmes, hygiene and nutrition education, environmental conservation, and project-based learning.

A standout feature of the school is its fully established school farm, which provides hands-on agricultural training.

Through the poultry unit, pupils learn practical skills such as rearing layers and broilers, feeding, vaccination, hygiene, egg handling, and record-keeping.

The farm also contributes to the boarding pupils’ diet, reinforcing healthy living alongside practical learning.

To support families and promote inclusive education, the school offers academic bursaries, free leisurewear, school-provided mattresses, and transport services.

These initiatives are designed to make quality education affordable for families across the Acholi sub-region.

Admissions and registration are currently ongoing for all classes, and parents are encouraged to enrol early to secure limited boarding spaces.

Admission centres are available across Lira, Agago, and Pader districts, including Agweng Town Board, Puranga Town Council, Lira Palwo, Agago Town Council, Geregere Trading Centre, and Pader Town Council, among others.

As Milyer Nursery and Primary School continues to expand its facilities and programmes, its commitment remains firm: to raise disciplined, talented, and academically strong learners prepared for both examinations and life beyond the classroom.

“At Milyer Nursery and Primary School, we are committed to raising children who are disciplined, talented, and academically strong. We welcome all parents to visit and experience what makes our school unique,” Headteacher Jeraherd concluded.
