The Blessed Daudi Okello and Jilo Erwa Parish Choir on Saturday 7th March 2026 led a vibrant celebration of the Feast Day of St. Perpetua, drawing parishioners together in prayer, song, and reflection on the life of the young Christian martyr.
Following the prayers, our reporter spoke with choir members and parishioners, who shared their thoughts on the significance of the feast and St. Perpetua’s enduring legacy.
Kenneth Emmanuel Omony, the parish Choir Master, described St. Perpetua as a young mother who gave her life for her faith.
He emphasized that her courage and devotion remind the faithful that true commitment to God sometimes requires sacrifice.
Omony urged parishioners to live by her example through faith, sincere love for others, and steadfastness in their spiritual journey.
Sharon Auma, a member of the St. Perpetua Choir, told our reporter that the saint continues to inspire women, particularly mothers and pregnant women.

She highlighted that the feast day is a time to celebrate St. Perpetua’s prayers for families and to encourage Christians to maintain strong faith, praise the Lord, and follow the teachings of the Holy Bible in their daily lives.
Fiona Amito, also a member of the St. Perpetua sub-choir, reflected on the saint’s martyrdom at the age of 22, noting that she remained faithful to Christ despite being a mother and facing persecution.
Amito said St. Perpetua’s life teaches the importance of courage, devotion, and love, adding that the saint’s example can inspire women to grow stronger in faith and serve God faithfully.
Okeng Daniel emphasized that Christians should remain patient and steadfast during challenges, drawing lessons from St. Perpetua’s life.
He encouraged parishioners to cultivate goodness in their hearts, help others, and remain committed to God’s teachings.
Daniel explained that being part of the choir helps members honor St. Perpetua by demonstrating kindness, faithfulness, and courage in daily life.
Aringo Alice told our reporter that St. Perpetua’s life exemplifies the true meaning of faith and courage.
She noted that following the saint’s example living with faith, loving others, and acting courageously brings believers closer to God and strengthens the community.

According to Alice, the feast day was an opportunity for parishioners to internalize these values and apply them in their own lives.
The celebration concluded with prayers for families, mothers, and pregnant women, recognizing St. Perpetua’s role as an intercessor and spiritual guide.
Choir-led hymns, communal worship, and reflections left attendees inspired to emulate her courage, faith, and devotion in everyday life.
The Feast Day of St. Perpetua at Blessed Daudi Okello and Jilo Erwa Parish demonstrated how music, prayer, and community can powerfully honor saints while strengthening faith within Pader Town Council.
Following the church service, choir members gathered at Atek-Vila for evening refreshments, providing an opportunity to socialize, strengthen bonds, and reflect on the day’s spiritual lessons.
