Suspected Karimojong raiders ambush police vehicle

Joint security forces are hunting for suspected Karimojong armed warriors who ambushed and shot at a police vehicle along the Moroto-Soroti highway.

The incident took place around Lodoi primary school In Napak district around 9 pm Sunday. 

Micheal Longole, the Karamoja Region Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying that no person was injured.

According to Longole, the police Toyota Landcruiser registration UP 2522 was destined for Moroto from Soroti district.

Longole suspects that the attackers could be the rustlers who were headed for a raiding mission but met the police vehicle coincidentally and ended up exchanging fires.

He warned that those attacking the security personnel saying they risk their own lives adding that the armed forces will always shoot back. He also calls for vigilance from all road users in Karamoja.
