Police arrest 5 Notorious Robbers

Five suspected high-profile suspected thugs in Moroto district are in police custody.

Police picked up the suspects in an intelligence-led operation on their hideout in Acholi Inn ward, North Division in Moroto municipality where they also recovered suspected stolen properties.

The recovered items include one Laptop (Toshiba), Two Solar panels and 100watts, one NRM bicycle, one motorcycle, and three kilograms of marijuana rolled sticks ready for consumption among others.

Micheal Longole, the Mt. Moroto regional police spokesperson confirmed the arrest, saying that the operation was prompted by a public outcry about the burglaries and the attacks on the community.

Sylvester Ogwang, a resident of campswahili Chini in South division attributed the rampant theft in the area to alcoholism and hunger.

Akida Lokure, the LC1 Campswahili Chini village observed that burglars have resorted to using motorcycles for transporting stolen properties making it difficult to trace their leads.
