Christians in Kotido have been called upon to renew their faith on the fight against Satan as they begin lent season.

The call was made by the Bishop of Kotido Diocese Rt. Rev. Dominic Eibu during the Ash Wednesday celebrations mass at good shepherd cathedral , a day that officially ushers Christians into the lent season

In his homily, Rt Rev Eibu says if Christians want to reject Satan, they should first turn to God and do good in word and action that pleases God adding that during this season, we should help others to become good people.

Message from Rt. Rev. Dominic Eibu Bishop of Kotido Diocese

On Ash Wednesday, Christians attend Mass/Service and religious leaders draw the sign of a cross with ashes onto their foreheads.

The period is meant to identify the faithful with Jesus Christ. In the Bible, ashes are a symbol of repentance and death.

The 40-day period is attributed to two episodes of spiritual testing in the Bible which are the 40 years of wilderness wanderings by the Israelites after they left Egypt. ENDS
