Kotido street kids embark on cleaning campaign

Street children in Kotido municiplity under their umbrella body Street Kid’s Inclusion Foundation SKIF have embarked on a cleaning exercise to rid the town of garbage and filth.

The exercise which commenced this morning in central division saw nearly, 30 street children collect rubbish as well as fecal matter littered all over the streets of Kotido municipality.

David Mathew Oluka the executive director SKIF says the cleaning exercise is part of their program to keep Kotido town clean and ensure that the streets are free of litter.

He explained that for the start, SKIF will be cleaning the town twice a week. He further appealed for support from well-wishers to help them clean the town better.

Augustine Lokiru, the head of operations-SKIF says this is intended to get street children off the streets and teach them to be productive in their communities.

Started in 2022, Street Kids Inclusion Foundation is an association formed by a group of youth in Kotido that saw the need to transform the lives of street kids through skilling projects to enable them have a sustainable living.
