The police in Kotido district have expressed concern over the low number of applicants responding to the Uganda Police Force recruitment call.

The force is currently conducting a nationwide recruitment drive for 10,000 police constables, an exercise that began on 11th March and is scheduled to conclude on Friday, 21st March 2025.

However, Calisto Longole, the Kotido District Police Community Liaison Officer, stated that despite the large number of positions advertised, only 23 applicants had expressed interest in joining the police service by Tuesday.

Longole, who is overseeing the recruitment exercise in Kotido, attributes the low turnout to a negative attitude towards police jobs, particularly among the local population.

Longole urges the communities to rethink their stance to be able to benefit from one of the government call to addressing unemployment in the country.
