Approval of Kotido district service commission deferred to the next council sitting

The speaker of Kotido district, Emmanuel Lodio has for the second time deferred the approval of the District Service commission till the next council meeting citing irregularities in the appointment process.

While giving guidance to the house as stipulated in the Local Government Act Section 54 2 “C”, Lomongin Joseph the CAO Kotido district, revealed that in the case of a district with more than one urban authority, the district executive committee recommends a member to be appointed by the council.

When questioned by the speaker, to ascertain whether the district executive committee-DEC members had convened in a meeting to agree on who to recommend for appointment, Paul Komol  Lotee the Kotido district LC 5 chairperson revealed that DEC members had not met.

This however prompted the Speaker Emmanuel Lodio to defer the matter to the next sitting but also cautioned the executive members to do the expedite the recommendations as the terms of service of the current service commission members is due to expire, so that the district might not have to suffer the burden of hiring a service commission from other district.
