Farmers in Kotido district have started preparing their farmlands for planting a head of the rainy season.

A spot field visit to a number of farmlands in Kotido municipality and district shows that a number of farmers are already clearing their gardens while others are digging them as they wait for the rains to fall.

Land clearing is a critical part of the agriculture industry, allowing farmers to prepare land for planting, maintain crops, and protect against pests and diseases.

Yaratum who our reporter found digging using a hand hoe says he is ready to cultivate maize on his land.
