The Democratic Party (DP) has criticised what it describes as the addition of new complainants to the appeal of 33 individuals, including Mr. Fearless Kilama Wod-Acholi, the Pader town council Urban Chairperson (DP), who were convicted for their role in the December 2021 Pader protests.
The appeal, filed in April 2023, has faced delays, with the next hearing scheduled for January 16, 2025, at Kitgum High Court. The Resident State Attorney, Hamza Muzige, argued for dismissal due to the appellants’ repeated absences.
Defense counsel Geoffrey Anyuru countered, urging the court to proceed, citing the appellants’ right to justice. The convictions include unlawful assembly, malicious damage, and inciting violence.
DP acting spokesperson Kirya Ismail questioned the fairness of adding new complainants, such as Pader Vice Chairperson Ocen Justine, Bosco Okello (Councilor Acoro), Robert Opira, and Town GISO Anywar David.

Counsel Anyuru confirmed that the new individuals are representatives of the complainant. Justice Mwaka Phillips is expected to address these matters at the next hearing. The DP has called for transparency and a fair resolution.
