Pader Woman MP Hon. Aciro Paska Menya donated tents to 17 mobile catering groups to boost their income.
The Woman Member of Parliament for Pader District, Hon. Aciro Paska Menya, has officially launched the donation of tents to 17 mobile catering groups and handed over key transport items to local leaders, in a wide-ranging effort to empower grassroots communities and fulfill long-standing pledges.
The launch ceremony, held in Pajule Town Council, began with the distribution of tents to three Catering Group of Koyo, Pajule Women, and Wamare Mobile Catering Group.
MP Aciro Paska Menya said the tent donation is part of fulfilling her promises before her term ends, as she plans to return and seek the people’s trust for another term.
“This donation is not just about giving tents it is about honoring the commitments I made to our people. These tents, valued at over 30 million shillings, are meant to strengthen local catering groups and help them grow their income,” she said.
The event also celebrated 25 students who recently completed their studies at Kampala University in various academic and vocational fields. Several of these students received tuition support from the MP.
However, Hon. Menya emphasized that the success of these students was a collective effort between her office and the parents, who also made sacrifices to ensure their children completed school.
“We worked hand in hand with the parents,” she noted. “While I supported tuition and fees where I could, the parents also did their part, and together we’ve created a bright future for these young people.”
Mego Rose Oleke, a parent from Conner Kilak in Pader Sub-county, thanked the MP for sponsoring her son Komakech Ben Owiny’s university education in veterinary medicine. She appealed to the district leadership to consider him in the next recruitment process.
Among the honored students, Odong Sam from Porogali Sub-county, who completed a course in Business Administration (specializing in Accounting).
“I had lost hope in education, but Hon. Paska lifted me from zero to hero. I am now a graduate with purpose.”
Aporo Scovia, a Computer Science and Information Technology graduate from Bongtiko Sub-county, also expressed gratitude:
“I thank the MP and the parents. This is not just my achievement, it’s a victory for all of us.”
As part of the event, Hon. Menya also handed over a brand new motorcycle registration number UMA 672BX to the Pader District Women’s Council Office and a bicycle to Odongo Bosco, the LCI chairperson of Lakoga Central Village.
These items fulfilled a pledge made by the Minister for Works and Transport, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala during a previous Women’s Day celebration in Pader.
Mego Apio Jenifer, the district women’s council leader, said the motorcycle would enhance their outreach and coordination efforts.
“We’ve been struggling with transport, but this support will help us reach more women and involve them in government programs.”
LCI Chairperson of Lakoga Central Village, Odongo Bosco, expressed deep appreciation for the bicycle donation, saying it will greatly ease his work in mobilizing the community.
“This will make my village mobilization easier. I thank both the minister and Hon. Paska for remembering us.”
The ceremony was marked by celebration and appreciation, highlighting fulfilled pledges, unity in development, and continued investment in youth empowerment and community progress in Pader District.
