Following the disbursement of Shillings 3,650,000,000 (3.65 billion) Parish Development Model funds to Kagadi district by central government, Parish Chiefs and Community Developments officers in the district have been trained and equipped with knowledge regarding the operationalization of the funds.
The two days training workshop started on Monday with Community development officers (CDOs) and ended last evening (Tuesday) with the training of all Parish Chiefs and Ward Agents in Kagadi District.
Speaking to our reporter shortly after the training, Peter Kusemererwa the Kagadi district Commercial officer who doubles as the district Parish Development Model focal person revealed that the training was targeting Community development officers, Parish Chiefs, Ward Agents and other extension workers at the sub county level.
He says these have been equipped with knowledge on how the disbursed PDM funds will be operationalized or utilized by the various Parish Saccos
Peter says after this training, Community development officers, Parish Chiefs, Ward Agents and other extension workers have been directed to go at their respective parishes and Passover the same training to the targeted PDM beneficiaries.
He says these have been given training tools that they will base on during their trainings and that their training exercise is starting tomorrow Thursday and is expected to be finalized in two weeks’ time.
Peter says after their training, a comprehensive report will be compiled and forwarded to the ministry of Finance and economic planning.
He is optimistic that upon receiving the report the ministry will now direct districts to allow the Parish Saccos to access the funds already at their bank accounts for fully utilization.
