Accident involving National Medical Stores vehicle kills two in Oyam

Two people have perished in an accident involving a vehicle belonging to the National Medical Stores in Oyam district.

Last night, a Fuso Box Body vehicle, registration number UBJ 625X belonging to the National Medical Stores which was transporting drugs to Otuke district overturned in Alidi in Loro town council, Oyam district when it hit an ant hill after one of its tyres burst.

North Kyoga regional police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema said two people who were inside the vehicle perished in the accident. The deceased have been identified as Muzora Alex, 40, the vehicle driver and Caro Ainembabazi, 28, a staff of National Medical Stores.

 Okema said the body of the accident victims were taken to Anyeke Health IV for postmortem while the vehicle wreckage was towed to Loro police station.

He said that the Northern regional Manager, National Medical Stores Rogers Ochan told police that the drug supplier was considering returning some of the drugs that were not destroyed in the accident to their stores to make addition for the ones destroyed, before re-supplying them to Otuke district as planned.
